Gate's Japan Stock Launch Is Not Innovation. It Is Custodial Plumbing.
Charts lie. Liquidity speaks. Gate did not unveil a new chain, a new consensus layer, or a new settlement primitive. Gate unveiled a trading surface. Japanese equities, USDT settlement, JPY-denominated pricing, and a familiar CeFi order book now sit under one interface. To the average crypto user, that sounds like another step toward one app for every asset. To a market structure analyst, it looks like something narrower: an exchange expanding custody risk and trying to route TradFi liquidity through a stablecoin rail. FOMO is a tax on the unobservant. The real question is not whether this is impressive. The real question is who is now inside the same risk wrapper as the user's crypto.
